Professional Summary

Dr. Santaniello’s research focuses on neural engineering, brain-computer interface, neuromodulation, and computational neuroscience. His current research falls into the following areas: (1) development of modeling tools and analyses to understand the effects of neurodegenerative disorders on the brain’s electrophysiology, from single neurons to neural populations; (2) design of control algorithms for adaptive, robust, and optimal neural prostheses, with application to movement disorders (e.g., Parkinson’s disease), epilepsy, and deep brain stimulation; and (3) development of algorithms for automatic localization of the epileptogenic onset zone and seizure onset detection in drug-resistant epilepsy patients.
