Dr. Laurencin is a designated University Professor at UCONN. He is the first physician-scientist elected to the Institute of Medicine, the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Inventors. He is an international leader in broad areas of biomaterials, polymers, polymer-ceramics and stem cell technology and founded the field of Regenerative Engineering. He was named one of the 100 Engineers of the Modern Era by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Materials Research Society, the Biomedical Engineering Society and the American Chemical Society.
