Dr. Huang’s research interests are primarily in the areas of High Performance Computing, Computational Biology, and Algorithm Design & Analysis. He is particularly interested in investigating research issues involved in the software/hardware infrastructure, middleware and algorithmic support for extreme-scale computation and information extraction. Recently his research efforts have been on the development, deployment and evaluation of modern large-scale distributed computing infrastructures for this purpose.
Example research foci include the following: (1) exploiting massive parallelism at the algorithm level; (2) coping with software run-time errors from processing elements; (3) efficient large-scale inter-processor and processor-memory communications; and (4) reducing the power requirements for future hardware.
