Dr. Chrysochoou’s research has been focused on the behavior and treatment of metal pollutants in soil and groundwater, as well as the characterization and recycling of industrial waste and by-products. Her main research falls into the following areas: (1) Remediation of contaminated sites and brownfield redevelopment; (2) Fate and transport of metal pollutants in the environment; (3) Characterization of hazardous waste and secondary waste streams from industrial processes, as well as utilization and reuse; (4) Application of spectroscopic techniques for the characterization of transportation and construction materials, soils and waste.
