Professional Summary

Dr. Burkey’s areas of research fall into two main areas, one educationally focused, the other technically focused. On the education side, Dr. Burkey is interested in improving student engagement and knowledge retention through the use of game-based mechanics or gamification in engineering education. On the technical side, he is interested in using chemical vapor deposition, both thermally initiated and photo-initiated, to fabricate novel, thin film, polymeric coatings that can have a high-value-added application in a variety of fields.
