Dean of Engineering Mun Y. Choi recently announced the appointment of Dr. Kazem Kazerounian as Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives.

Students Gain Valuable Insight in Characterization Lab
When materials Science and Engineering (MSE) students transition into the working world, they arrive fully versed in the techniques and language of electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. They owe their practiced knowhow to professor emeritus Donald Potter, who equipped and has managed the Undergraduate Materials Characterization Lab, and taught a junior/senior course in Materials Characterization, for three decades.

Drs. McEvily and Carter Elected Society Fellows
Drs. Arthur J. McEvily and C. Barry Carter have been elected Fellows of respected professional societies. Both will be inducted in July.
Dr. McEvily, a professor emeritus of metallurgy, was elected a 2009 Fellow of the International Congress on Fracture (ICF) in recognition of his "contributions to the understanding of fatigue mechanisms and processes in structural alloys."
