Laurencin Wins Pierre Galletti Award
Dr. Cato T. Laurencin is the 2009 winner of the Pierre Galletti Award, the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering's (AIMBE) highest honor. Dr. Laurencin, who holds both an M.D. and a Ph.D., is Vice President for Health Affairs at the University of Connecticut Health Center, Dean of the UConn School of Medicine and a faculty member in the department of Chemical, Materials & Biomolecular Engineering in Storrs.

UConn EWB Provides Assistance in Thailand
Two members of the UConn chapter of Engineers Without Borders spent three weeks last May and June applying engineering principles to relief projects in the hill country of northern Thailand. Chapter president Robert Yau and former president Nathan Barlow, both Chemical Engineering seniors, engaged in a number of tasks intended to improve the lives of rural residents.
