James P. Keller, Jr.

James Keller is the Vice President of International Market Development at the ECRI Institute, where he leads efforts to support the mission, business operations, business development, planning, and overall growth of ECRI Institute’s international programs and services. Mr. Keller earned an M.S. in biomedical engineering from the University of Connecticut in 1984 and a B.S. in zoology from the University of Massachusetts in 1980.

Prior to taking on his international role, Mr. Keller spent nearly 20 years directing ECRI Institute’s Health Devices evaluation program, which provides independent judgment and guidance to help hospitals and health systems select and manage medical devices. This program has been referred to by the New York Times as the “country’s most respected laboratory for testing of medical products.” Mr. Keller co-developed the medical product hazard and recall management system called Alerts Tracker, which is now used in over 1,000 hospitals worldwide.

Mr. Keller is a recognized expert and frequently-invited speaker on a wide range of health technology-related topics. He has delivered keynote addresses at national conferences in Australia, Canada, Italy, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, and the United States.

He is a past president of the board of the American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE), a past member of the board of the Healthcare Technology Foundation, and a past member of the board for the Healthcare Technology Certification Commission. In 2016, he was named a Fellow of the ACCE.
