As Dean of the UConn College of Engineering, it’s my pleasure to welcome you to our website, and invite you to explore the programs, research, and people that make our school one of the top in the country.

UConn Engineering is a school on the rise, with a talented and growing student population, a nationally-competitive research program, and faculty that are well-known experts in their field. As recognition of that leadership, in September 2023 the UConn Board of Trustees approved the elevation of our organization from the UConn School of Engineering to the UConn College of Engineering. This reflects our swift growth and our importance in producing highly educated graduates who bolster Connecticut’s high-tech economy.

This milestone will also include two other changes: the Department of Computer Science and Engineering will become the School of Computing; and the Department of Mechanical Engineering will become the School of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Manufacturing Engineering.

To ensure continued growth, our focus is always on three major pillars: Developing successful students, maintaining research excellence, and contributing to the economic output and development in the state of Connecticut.

Through investment in campus resources, a focus on entrepreneurial ventures, a strong connection with industry partners, and a drive to innovate, the college has been very successful at advancing our three pillars; and giving the State of Connecticut a strong return on its investment. Connecticut and its engineering community look to UConn Engineering for leadership, intellectual capital, and outstanding graduates who will ensure the economic future of our state.

These are exciting times in UConn Engineering, with the promise of more to come in future years. We hope you will visit this website often and subscribe to our electronic newsletter, UConn Engineering News, for updates on our progress. Better yet, visit us in Storrs and see the impact that our students, faculty, staff, and alumni make on a daily basis.

Sincerely,

Kazem Kazerounian
Dean, College of Engineering
