SPIN – Sponsored Programs Information Network
The University’s Office for Sponsored Programs (OSP) provides faculty, staff and students with access to the Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN) through the InfoEd System. SPIN is an up-to-date listing of national and international, government and private funding sources, including fellowships, research grants, publication support, sabbatical support, curriculum development and more. It allows for searches by keywords, sponsors, award types, applicant types, geographic regions and/or deadline dates. All of the data in SPIN is obtained directly from the sponsoring agencies to ensure the integrity of the information.
Additional services of the database are the SMARTS and GENIUS systems. SMARTS is an automated system that periodically queries the SPIN database and sends notifications to investigators regarding available funding opportunities in their field of study. GENIUS stores academic profiles for researchers at our institution and throughout the world. Investigators can search for external collaborators in their field by using a series of keywords. Note: Investigators must have an InfoEd account to use the SMARTS and GENIUS systems. InfoEd accounts can be requested at http://www.osp.uconn.edu/infoed_request.php.
Information on SPIN, SMARTS and GENIUS can be found on OSP’s website at http://www.osp.uconn.edu/spin_instructions.php.
