During September several members of the
UConn Material Advantage Chapter
attended the MS&T Conference in
Detroit, MI. Presentations were given by
Jackie Garofano on Characterization of
the HAZ and Recast Microstructures in
Laser Drilled Superalloys, R. Nath
on Nanoscale Ferroelectric Domain
Dynamics via 10 frame/sec SPM
Imaging, Misael Majarres on
Enhancement of Wear Resistance of
Nickel-Based Alloy via Surface
Nanocrystalization, and Robin Bright on
Processing Parameters Impact on
Microstructure of Laser Drilled Waspaloy
and Hastelloy X. The talks they gave were
very impressive and the UCMA would like
to congratulate them on a job well done!
In addition, the executive board of UCMA
attended the Chapter Leadership Workshop. This workshop gave us many insightful ideas to improve our outreach activities, programs, and other aspects of our chapter. each student that was able to
make the trip this year is leaving with valuable learning experiences, from the lectures and networking, and also great memories that were made between us all.
