Coming into her junior year as a Material Science & Engineering major, Salay has been a member of Material Advantage since the Fall of 2006. During the beginning of 2007 she acted as the Literature Chair. Since then Salay has been elected as Secretary and Communications Chair for the coming academic year.

Salay has pusblished several articles in the Journal of Dental Research on dental composities and holds a provisional patent on carries detecting devices. Recently she worked for the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology in the Laser Applications Lab specializing in the metallographic and microscopy analysis of laser processed materials.

In her spare time she is an active member of the Society of Women Engineers and enjoys playing many intramural sports.
