To the interested party,

As a student of engineering at the University of Connecticut, I am often encouraged to learn through hands-on field work, which is why I am eager to pursue many diverse internship or employment opportunities. I am a seventh semester Senior Materials Science Engineering and Mechanical Engineering double major. My research interests lie within clean energy, optical materials and lean manufacturing. In particular, I have done research on quantum structures for use in solar cells, I have worked on leaning processes through my previous internships, and my dream job would be to work on radio or optical space telescopes.

As a double major student, I would be an asset to your company as either an intern or employee. There are many departments which I could add to with my knowledge of both materials and mechanics. In addition, I am extremely willing to learn any skills I would need to accomplish a task set before me. The strong desire I have to jump into the workforce and gain knowledge through experience would also be a benefit. My high work load has also taught me to deal with stress and deadlines efficiently.

I am an exceptionally well-organized, detail-oriented person who can work well individually, as well as being part of a team. In addition, my lab experience preparing and processing materials, synthesizing nanostructures for experimental purposes, as well as performing more complex tasks would be useful in any number of jobs. Through classwork, I also have had experience with theoretical component reliability and material manipulation.

I would appreciate any opportunity to interview with you or discuss a position further. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you require further information. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

Respectfully,
