The UConn Materials Advantage student chapter has established itself as one of the nation's most successful and active university groups. Recent national awards received by the student chapter include the 2001 ASM/TMS Chapter of Excellence for Technical Programming Award, as well as the 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2005 and 2006 TMS World Materials Day Outreach Contest Awards.

Material Advantage is a national student society which combines ASM International, TMS, AiST and ACers.

In each year, our student chapter strives to do outreach in as many New England schools as possible. If you would like more information on our outreach program, please see the Programs page.

UCMA is open to any student (Graduate and Undergraduate) at the University of Connecticut. Please see the Event page or email us for the date of our next meeting or event.

Introducing the topic of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) to K-12 students in a fun and exciting way in order to expose students to this field at an early age.

Creating a community of students who know and support each other both in school and in the real world.

Providing programming that is beneficial to the eduction, future endeavors or experience of the student members.

Attracting students to both the UConn School of Engineering and the Material Science & Engineering department.

Working cooperatively with the faculty in order to maintain and improve upon the quality of our education.

UConn Material Advantage is pleased to announce the 1st Annual Northeast Regional Conference will be held February 23, 2008 at the University of Connecticut. This event showcases a love of material science and engineering through local industry tours, several technical presentations, a Material Advantage chapter workshop, and a keynote address from the Vice President of ASM International, Roger Fabian.
