Research Interests
Dr. Wei's main teaching and research interests lie in biomaterials and related areas. Areas of particular interest include:
- Synthesis and characterization of hydroxyapatite and ion substituted apatites
- Biomimetic apatite coatings
- Preparation and characterization of scaffold materials for tissue engineering applications
- Preparation of ceramic/polymer composites for bone repair
- Surface modification
- Mechanisms of apatite nucleation and growth on biomaterials
- Interactions between cell and different biomaterials
- Modeling of cell behavior on biomaterial surfaces
- Protein delivery and release kinetics
- Stem cell research
- In vivo animal tests
