Dr. Srivastava’s research group focuses on using computational techniques, including mathematical modeling, machine learning, and data mining, to understand, engineer, and optimize biological processes and/or products. His research group validates their computational predictions through experimental studies. As a result, the lab has extensive experience in molecular biology, microbiology, and fermentation technology. Recent efforts include genome-scale metabolic modeling to identify drug targets and predict drug efficacy against infectious diseases; development of software tools capable of designing extremely efficient and effective antisense molecules; and text/data mining the biological literature and database to discover/predict reaction behavior of different molecules with each other.
