Professional Summary

Leslie Shor leads the Engineered Microhabitats research group. She employs advanced manufacturing techniques to build microbe-habitat systems for development of next-generation biomanufacturing and sustainable agricultural biotechnology. Current research projects include: (i) engineering the microbial biofilm microhabitat for discovery of antibiotics and industrial anti-fouling agents, (ii) engineering the termite gut microhabitat for biomanufacturing and biofuel production, (iii) engineering the soil microhabitat to develop biological products for modulating soil moisture and for targeting the delivery of encapsulated agrochemicals, and (iv) droplet microfluidics for microbe and enzyme encapsulation.
