Dr. Burnicki’s research applies principles and methodologies from GIScience, remote sensing, geostatistics and statistics to the field of Land Change Science in order to improve the ability to quantify land change patterns and develop models that describe land change processes. Her research addresses important questions such as how are landscapes changing with respect to land-use/-cover, what biophysical and socio-economic factors might explain observed patterns of landscape change, and how might changes in land-use/-cover impact broader environmental processes like water quality. Dr. Burnicki’s research also addresses the impact of error and uncertainty on land change analyses.
