My interests are in understanding the mass, energy, and momentum flux exchanges between land surface and the overlying atmosphere; surface hydrological processes; drought occurrence; land use land cover changes and vegetation dynamics; interactions between the terrestrial biosphere and its environment; climate variability, climate changes, and climate system modeling; climate teleconnection and its application in hydrological forecasts. My research approaches include numerical modeling and data analysis. Currently used models include land surface hydrological models, ecosystem dynamics models, and coupled land-atmosphere models.
