My interests are on understanding the reactivity of organic and inorganic compounds in soils. These involve various investigative tools, such as:

Spectroscopic studies of the liquid-solid interfaces; surface charge as a function
of pH, ionic strength and components present in the mixture using electrophoresis equipment and acid-base titration studies; the impact of other ions present in the samples on the reaction processes, with emphasis on aqueous inorganic carbon species and of dissovled salts; and mechanistic mathematical modeling of the adsorption and desorption data. In summary, my research interests seek to understand the basic, fundamental chemical
processes that occur in our soils.
