My research focuses on applying geophysical theory and techniques to tackle environmental and engineering problems. I am interested in measurement, modeling, and analysis of geophysical (seismic, acoustic, thermal, electric, electromagnetic) signals transmitted and propagated in earth material (porous or poro-fractured media). The research involves forward modeling, inversion, and digital signal processing. We apply finite-difference, pseudo-spectral, and finite-element methods in modeling wave propagations in earth materials. We apply tomographic imaging techniques to carry out in-situ site characterizations. We
also apply digital signal processing techniques (time-frequency analysis, wavelet
transform, Bayesian analysis, etc.) to extract and enhance information from noisy
background.
