Dr. Cetegen’s research is in the general area of experimental
combustion and fluid dynamics with emphasis on laser diagnostics
and optical imaging. His recent research projects include fluid
mechanical instabilities in buoyant plumes and fires, heat transfer
and phase change in rotating flows, thermal spray process characterization
by non-intrusive optical measurements, detonation deposition of
nanostructured coatings and detonation dynamics as well as turbulent
heat and mass transport in combustion systems. Dr. Cetegen’s
research in these areas have been sponsored by the National Science
Foundation, Office of Naval Research, Army Research Office, NASA,
the State of
Connecticut Economic Development Agency, the Connecticut Department
of
Transportation, and industry.
He serves as the treasurer and the member of the Executive Board
of the Eastern Section of the Combustion Institute and he is a
Fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
