Schedule & Content
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lab#1 TBA - Soil bulk density; particle density; soil water content - gravimetric; particle size distribution.

Lab#2 TBA - Determination of SWC curves using pressure plates, flow cells, and thermocouple psychrometer, combining measurements and fitting SWC.

Lab#3 TBA - Measurement of saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks) in uniform and layered soil columns.

Lab#4 TBA - Infiltration experiment; application of algebraic expressions, Green-Ampt, and Philip's approximations to observed data - infiltration rates and wetting front propagation.

Lab#5 TBA - Miscible displacement and breakthrough curves for a noninteracting tracer (Chloride) through a sand column; methods of data analysis and estimation of transport parameters.

Lab#6 TBA - Calibration and installation of sensors; use of dataloggers and multiplexers; assemblage of TDR probes, TDR demonstration.

Use your computer's word processor and spreadsheet software for your lab report.
Lab reports are due at the beginning of the following lab session. Lab reports turned in late will not be graded!

Lab Quizzes
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the beginning of each lab session there will be a small multiple choice quiz.

Handouts
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Downloadable handouts with instructions will be posted in pdf-format approximately one week prior to the lab sessions. Paper copies will be available at the beginning of each session.
