Richard Parnas

Dr. Richard Parnas received the High Merit Award in the 2007 Pioneering Nanotechnology Competition sponsored by Masscal Scientific Instruments of Orlando, FL, for technical innovation in bio-based polymers. He was selected by an independent panel of scientists in recognition of his scholarly work to reduce synthetic plastic land fill by developing toughened wheat protein restructured with poly-thiols. These can then be combined with nano-clay, carbon fiber or other materials to be used as a candidate in a wide variety of plastic and composite material applications.
