Endowed Chair Professor/Full Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor Positions In Sustainable Energy

The School of Engineering at the University of Connecticut (UConn) invites applications and/or nominations for multiple faculty positions that will form an interdisciplinary, integrated team which will conduct research, education, and outreach in the strategic areas of sustainable energy including, but not limited to, fuel cells, novel energy conversion, energy storage, advanced batteries, wind energy, solar energy, biofuels, advanced combustion, carbon sequestration, waste-to-energy, biomass conversion, hydrogen production, catalysis, electrochemistry, energy harvesting, power electronics, power systems, and smartgrid technologies. The team will comprise qualified faculty at all ranks: Endowed Chair Professors, Full Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in engineering or a related physical science discipline by the time of appointment, as well as a demonstrated record of research in sustainable energy and related technologies. It is expected this scholarly record will be outstanding and commensurate with rank. Academic appointment will be aligned with one of the School's five departments (Chemical, Materials & Biomolecular; Civil & Environmental; Computer Science; Electrical & Computer; or Mechanical) and will include classroom teaching duties. Qualified candidates may be recommended for tenured positions. A number of endowed chair positions are available at the rank of Full Professor; qualified candidates will be considered for these positions. This sustainable energy team will conduct visionary research, education and outreach related to a new Eminent Faculty Initiative in Sustainable Energy established at UConn. Research and related activities will primarily be centered within the School of Engineering's Center for Clean Energy Engineering, a research hub that will coordinate the sustainable energy initiative. Successful candidates may work at the University's main campus located in Storrs, and/or the campuses at Avery Point, Hartford, Stamford, Torrington, Waterbury and West Hartford. The initiative is sustained by a permanent allocation of more than $2.8M annually from the State of Connecticut, supplemented by $5.6M in seed funding from private industry and other sources.
