| FTP TO YOUR Z-DRIVE |
- Students, Faculty and Staff can connect to their Z drive (home
directory) from anywhere in the world using FTP or SFTP. SFTP is preferred and is the only supported solution when using UCONN public wireless. Our recommended SFTP client is WINSCP. If you still want to use FTP, you can use any standard FTP client to connect with our system. FTP is much less secure then SFTP as private information such as passwords can be exposed.
- New: With IE7, FTP through the browser will no longer work. The work around is that you should instead FTP through the "my computer" icon. What you type in will be the same when using explorer vs. my computer.
- Open the my computer icon (Internet Explorer) and enter the address: ftp://username@icarus.engr.uconn.edu Where username is your School of Engineering Username.
- A prompt should then ask your for your username and password. Example
Enter your School of Engineering Username and Windows (email)
