From a wired connection within the School of Engineering
- Engineering Computing Services IP Request Form
- Exchange and home directory connections are available to computers THAT ARE MEMBERS OF THE ENGR_STUDENT DOMAIN.
- webmail, IMAP, and POP E-mail access is also available
- Home and Shared folders can be mapped from my computer.
- All license servers are available.
- ssh, ftp, sftp, and Remote Desktop Communication are available to the user.
From a 137.99.xxx.xxx address outside of the School of Engineering
- Other forms of E-mail are available and communication are available without the use of a VPN
- Windows file sharing has been enabled across the SOE firewall from 137.99.xxx.xxx IP addresses for users to access their home and shared folders.
- The Matlab license server is available
From off Campus locations.
- Use the UITS VPN to access all of School of Engineering resources.
- Login authentification is your NetID and NetID Password
- Fully qualified computer names are required since you are connecting from outside the domain and are not seeing the WINS server.
- The UITS-VPN can be used to allow Remote Desktop Communication, to setup an Exchange connection in Outlook, and will allow connections to be made to the licence servers.
- Other forms of E-mail and communication are available without the use of a VPN

WI-FI communications within the School of Engineering
There are three modes of wireless communication available within the School of Engineering, UCONN-PUBLIC, UCONN-PUBLIC with VPN, and UCONN-SECURE.
UCONN-PUBLIC is available throughout the School of Engineering buildings.
- UCONN-PUBLIC connects you one way to the world outside of UCONN.
- Only traffic through limited ports is supported
- No access to protected School of Engineering Recources is provided via this interface.
UCONN-PUBLIC with VPN
- Enables a secure connection to be made to resources within the School of Engineering.
- Functions the same as if using the UITS VPN from a wired off campus location.
- Fully qualified domain names will need to be utilized to contact computers within the School of Engineering.
UCONN-SECURE
- Requires your NetID and NetID Password
- Instructions to connect for each operating system are found at wireless.uconn.edu
- Provides full access to SoE resources
