Welcome to Engineering Computing Services (ECS), a dedicated unit of the School of Engineering that serves the Faculty, Staff and Students at Storrs. Our Help Desk team is ready to serve you in accessing our resources, and our two Learning Centers are available for students and classes.

Some of the resources offered by ECS are SoE email (imap, pop, exchange, outlook web access), spam filtering, accounts (vpn, unix, linux, windows, ftp, sftp), SoE Firewall, personnel homepages, departmental websites, SSH access, backup services, hard disk recoveries, ECS linux installation, dell hardware support, software support (windows,office, matlab, etc), wired and secure wireless, 2 learning centers with 119 computers running 66 applications... We basically can support anything or will give it our best.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

UITS has modified their VPN so that it will not function from a 137.99.xxx.xxx IP address. Campus Windows file sharing has been enabled through the SOE firewall to maintain the current level of service. (02-15-08)

The SoE E-mail system has been upgraded. Increased Storage quotas are now available. (12-29-07)

The UITS VPN can be used to access your home or shared drives from off campus or through UCONN PUBLIC WIFI. (9-07-07)

New People Web Server which Supports PHP   (4-26-07)
A homepage which support HTML is standard for each SoE account. Due to requests, a new web server has been deployed which supports PHP, CGI, mySQL, and apache. Homepages on this webserver are available at no charge for Engineering Students and Faculty. To learn more, click here.

Computer Recommendations for Incoming Students   (4-24-07)
Welcome incoming students. ECS provides 2 computer labs with 120 computers for your use. We still recommend that you purchase a computer for your home/dorm usage. Recommendations can be found here

Backups on New Filing System   (4-10-07)
All windows files shares to the EMC filiing device (h, w or z drive) can now be right clicked to access a previous versions tab. At least 10 different backup copies spanning 2 weeks should be available.
