Sept. 15, 2004: A brief meeting with all in attendance
Topics discussed –
Discussed new digital compass as a possibility. Another GPS and microcontroller board also available in case of difficulty with current equipment. Contacted
various companies requesting information on implementation of their equipment.
Ordered and received new digital compass due to the fact that it is cheaper, smaller, and currently supported by Zilog. This compass, however, has only 45 degree resolution, whereas the original PNI Corp. digital compass has a 1 - 2 degree resolution.
Unresolved questions from last meeting -
Where is the testing area going to take place?
New Questions –
What kind of extra support can Zilog give us? Specifically for RS-232.
How will we physically connect GPS to Zilog board via RS-232?

Discussed the progress of the project, items accomplished over summer, and future goal dates.
Idea of implementing a new microcontroller board as a back up. Discussed new digital compass and its pros/cons.
Asked about project presentation and requirements for this semester.
