The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the University of Connecticut emphasizes excellence in education and research. Due to favorable relative numbers of faculty and students, individual students receive personal attention. All Electrical and Computer Engineering courses are taught by our faculty.
In May 2003, the ECE department moved into the new Information Technology Engineering building, providing a world-class educational environment for our students. This bright, beautiful building houses attractive study areas, a new learning center, and excellent instructional and research laboratories.
We offer Bachelor of Science programs in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering (offered jointly with the CSE Department) and Engineering Physics (offered jointly with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences). We offer programs leading to Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Electrical Engineering and in Biomedical Engineering (interdisciplinary).
The faculty of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department are internationally recognized leaders in their fields and conduct $4M of sponsored research annually. Areas of active research within the department include adaptive signal processing, signal estimation and target tracking, manufacturing systems, wireless and optical communication, encryption, optoelectronics and photonics, nanotechnology, electronic materials and devices, VLSI design and fabrication, biomedical engineering, and digital systems.
