Conclusions

• A theoretical model for intimate contact was developed using a fractal description of thermoplastic tow surfaces

• All the parameters of the model can be determined from profile measurements

• Parametric effects were illustrated

• Validation of the model was conducted using available experimental data

• Additional experiments are underway
