Connecticut Invention Convention

PHOTOCome to Storrs on Saturday, May 2 and be inspired! Gampel Pavilion will serve as the stage for 675 Connecticut school children vying for honors in the 26th Connecticut Invention Convention, hosted by the UConn School of Engineering. The young K-8 grade Thomas Edisons -- top award winners from 90 schools across Connecticut - will discuss and display clever inventions of their own creation and wow judging teams comprising leaders from industry, education, the law and government.

Visitors may enjoy the 10 a.m. opening ceremonies, during which Congressman Joe Courtney is expected to offer his remarks, and view the inventions from 12-1:30 p.m. Visitors may also explore child-friendly hands-on engineering and science-oriented exhibits within Gampel, stroll the Storrs campus, stop in the UConn Co-op, and visit the UConn Dairy Bar for world-famous ice cream.

The Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) is the longest continuously running invention competition in the nation. Previous CIC award winners have appeared as guests on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, American Inventor, WFSB's "Everyday Heroes" and the Martha Stewart Show, as well as educational programming on PBS's Cyberchase and ZOOM.
