BECAT Key/Fob Policy

To receive a lab key and an electronic key (fob), a student will need permission from their advisor. Permission can be given verbally to Sandi Lizee (486-1822), through an email (sandi@engr.uconn.edu), or pick up a Permission for Keys form from the BECAT administrative office. There is a $5.00 deposit for the lab key and $10.00 deposit for the fob.

Access to BECAT is through a tunnel which connects to the Information Technology Engineering building (ITEB). If the double doors leading into BECAT are closed, you will need to use your fob for entry. Your fob can also be used for alternate access to the private southwest plaza stairwell leading to Level A. Although BECAT is located on the ground floor of Homer Babbidge Library, there is NO access into the Library from Level A.

When leaving UConn, you will need to return keys and receive your deposit. If you are graduating, it is mandatory that you complete a key clearance form. You will receive this form from your department. The form requires signatures of the student, advisor, department, BECAT and a final signature from the Dean's office. This form is required by the Graduate School. Without completion of the clearance form, the student will not be issued a diploma.
