Bio: Dr. Janet Callahan is currently Associate Dean of Engineering and Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Boise State University in Idaho. Her career began with a postdoctoral appointment in 1990 as a Visiting Scientist with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Melbourne, Australia, as part of a National Science Foundation post-doctoral fellowship. This was followed by academic appointments as Assistant and Associate Professor of Materials Science & Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Callahan was awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation Early Career (CAREER) award for her work in high temperature coatings. Dr. Callahan's research specializations include thermal barrier coatings, biomaterials, radioactive coatings, brachytherapy, nanomaterials, and undergraduate education and retention.
