The first class meeting will be Tues, Aug. 28, 11:00am - 1:30pm in ITEB 201. The focus will be 0. an overview of the course 1. an overview of current issues that I will present 2. your expression of what you would like to do in the course (Please think about this in advance as it will help you to co-ordinate with others about joint research projects). 3. basic topological concepts (If you have a favorite topology book, I suggest bringing so that we can compare any minor differences in terminology. If you don't, then the class will provide what you need.) In the attachment, I've indicated papers on my home page for your reading, which would be good to have done prior to Tuesday (at least skimmed). I look forward to working with you. Dr. Peters P.S. If you have not talked to me about your math background, you should.
