This will lead naturally to the discussion of 'the frame problem' -- namely how does one generate all the frames necessary for an animation. I will show some techniques from videos produced here, as well as some from KnotPlot (assuming, of course, this runs on the classroom computer). One then becomes concerned with specialized computer languages to minimize the human effort. I will point back to Sections 20.2, 20.4 and 20.5 as specialized languages that compare some of that intent. So, I recommend Read Chapter 21 and Sectionsss 20.2, 20.4 and 20.5. Download KnotPlot (just perform google on KnotPlot) and run some of the animations. This will be posted on my homepage, as well. Under our original plan, next Thursday will be our last class of formal lectures by me. For Tuesday, please be prepared to discuss 1. what you would like me to present (Ch. 16 or other material) for that class, 2. if there are other topics that are important for which I should consider extending my presentations. I have posted the presentation outline that is indicated in the syllabus for your presentation during week 9. Please read carefully prior to next class. These will be given in class, by you, on Thursday, October 27, 2005. There are 5 teams and a 75 minute class. Assume that each team will get 12 minutes, in order to leave some time for questions, both during and after the presentations. If you have some suggestions for modifications of this plan, please be prepared to dicuss this next week, preferably on Tuess. Cordially, Dr. Peters P.S. Snigda, please relay to Ramandeep Kaur. Lance, please relay to Alan. I did not have their email addresses handy.
