This is an introductory course for new Transportation and Urban Engineering graduate students and for advanced Civil Engineering undergraduates.

Course Format

The course will be organized around the study and analysis of number of  transportation cases. The students will review and report on case documents provided by the instructors. They will do literature searches of supplemental information on each case. The reports will be a combination of oral and written reports. We will use a process of multiple drafts for some of the written reports.

Class periods will include lectures, group discussions, group projects and oral reports from the students.

Course Projects

  1. Transportation Design

Design Project

The projects will have both an individual and group component.  However, each students will be fully responsible for their own section of the reports.  The final exam will be based on the readings for the HW assignments, the classroom discussions and on all project reports for the class.  Each group will be required to summit a one page study guide for each of their project (this will count as part of the work for the group grade).
